Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department’s Easter Egg Hunt a hit with the Kids

Cunningham Volunteer Fire DepartmentCunningham, TN – Despite the cold weather, over 100 kids attended the Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt held Saturday, March 28th. The egg hunt was held at Montgomery Central Middle School and began at 10:00am.

This year, three contests were added. Kids could pick a duck from the duck pond and receive a price according to the number on the bottom. At the toss an egg, children tried to throw an egg into an Easter basket for a price.

The funnest one was Carry an Egg. Using a spoon, kids carried an egg on the spoon and tried to be the first across the finish line without dropping the egg.

Each child was also given a ticket for a chance to win one of three door prizes at the end of the hunt.

The Easter egg hunt was broken down into four age groups; ages 2 and under, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-11. The four separate areas had over 5,000 eggs scattered on the ground. There were two prize eggs for each age group.

“Our volunteers worked for several days getting everything ready for today,” stated Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department Captain William Jackson. “This is something we do to give back to the community that does so much for us.”

With the start of the Easter Egg hunt, children raced across the field picking up as many eggs as they could. Once all of the eggs were gathered, kids sat down and began the task of opening each one looking for a prize ticket. Everyone was laughing and having a good time opening their eggs.

“The Easter egg hunt was very fun. I loved it so much,” said Makaela Britt.

“It was cold this year, but it looks like we had just over 120 kids attend the Easter Egg hunt,” said Jackson.

The prizes were Easter baskets filled with candy and goodies. The door prizes were stuffed animals along with candy.

“The Easter egg hunt was really fun. I won a basket with bubble gum in it. I can’t wait to come back next year,” stated Sydney Hamilton.

Mark your calendars and come out next year to this great event.
