Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Coming off its best week of the season, Austin Peay State University’s softball team hopes to carry that momentum into a non-conference matchup, 1:00pm, Wednesday, at Northern Kentucky.

The matchup will be the second meeting in as many seasons for the two squads, with Austin Peay (6-19) winning both games versus the Norse (4-19) last year at Cheryl Holt Field by scores of 5-1 and 13-0.

Offensively, Christiana Gable (.338 BA/6 HR/25 RBI) leads the Lady Govs attack after 25 games this season, but current Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Chandler Groves maybe the hottest hitter on the team coming into the matchup. In earning the OVC honor, Groves hit .566 with three home runs and 12 RBIs, in five games.

In addition, Lady Govs Niya Sparks (.317/5 HR/13 RBI) and Laurel Burroughs (.307/4 HR/15 RBI) also enter the doubleheader batting more than .300 this season.

The Norse are led by Dani Devlin, who is hitting a robust .383 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs, while Kate Bartolovich (.321/3 HR/7 RBI) is also hitting more than .300 for Northern Kentucky.

In the circle, Natalie Ayala (3-6, 7.20 ERA, 14 Ks) leads the Austin Peay pitching staff, while Sidney Hooper, Allie Blackwood and Heather Norris all have recorded one win each so far this spring.

Ashlynn Roberts (2-7/7.67 ERA/16 Ks) and Alex Caudill (2-6/9.91 ERA/12 Ks) are the Norse top hurlers.
