Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team begins a four-game Easter Week roadtrip when it meets in-state foe Middle Tennessee in a 6:00pm, Tuesday contest at Reese Smith Field in Murfreesboro, TN.

Austin Peay (14-10) enters the midweek affair after a three-game sweep of Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee Tech last weekend.

The Govs, who had difficulty scoring during a five-game road trip prior to the meeting with TTU, scored 30 runs in the three-game set at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Third baseman Logan Gray and second baseman Garrett Copeland each batted .500 (6-for-12) against the Golden Eagles. Gray finished with four RBI thanks to a pair of home runs while Copeland had three RBI and two stolen bases.

Middle Tennessee (16-10) sits atop the Conference USA standings after three weekends with an 8-1 mark following a three-game sweep of Old Dominion last weekend. Outfielder Ronnie Jebavy was named C-USA’s Hitter of the Week after batting .500 (6-of-12) against Old Dominion and posting two hits against both Vanderbilt and Lipscomb.

Tuesday’s matchup with Austin Peay will conclude a six-game homestand for the Blue Raiders, who are 3-2 during the stand to date.

Govs right-hander Jared Carkuff will get the start for Tuesday’s outing, his first midweek start this season after compiling seven weekend starts. He brings a 3-3 record and 4.58 earned-run average into the meeting with Middle Tennessee. Carkuff started the Govs Saturday contest against Tennessee Tech but did not make it out of the second inning.

The Blue Raiders will counter with left-hander Tyler Troutt, who will be making his season’s third start and has a 0-1 record and 4.05 ERA. He started the Blue Raiders contest against Vanderbilt last Tuesday, holding the nationally-ranked Commodores to two runs in five innings. Vanderbilt would rally to win that contest by a 12-7 margin courtesy a seven-run eighth inning.
