Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library “Geek the Library” campaign finishes April 13th-15th

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is wrapping up our “Geek the Library” campaign, the goal of which is to raise awareness about the importance of your public library. We hope that you have now added a new verb to your vocabulary—“geek.”

Everyone is passionate about something—whether it’s your smart phone, superheroes, southern cooking or whatever else you love. What you love is what you “geek.”

Geek the Library

Here at the library, we geek serving others, providing free books, movies, music, and children’s services to our community, and encouraging life-long learning both through our physical collection and in the virtual world through online resources–just to name a few things.

The library will be finishing the campaign with Geek the Library week beginning inside the library on Monday the 13th and with Geek the Library Day on Wednesday the 18th.

Giveaways and special prizes will be offered at the Geek table inside the library on that day and all week long.

The campaign culminates with the Geek the Library booth at the Rivers and Spires Festival on the 17th and 18th.

We are also asking selected businesses to “Geek up” their outdoor signage on April 15th for Geek the Library Day by telling us what their business geeks. If your business would also like to support the library on Wednesday the 15th, please add a geek message to your sign on that day.

While most people have visited their public library and understand its important role in their community, many do not know that local support for libraries is heavily influenced by community members. This public awareness campaign hopes to start a conversation about what your local public library can do for you and inspire more people to take personal responsibility for keeping their local public library vital.

This is especially important during the current strategic planning period when we are considering the possibility of expansion of library services in Montgomery County. We also want to show our community how a library card can save you money and time, and help you pursue your passions and goals by helping you explore what you geek.

Today’s library is about more than just books – we encourage everyone to get their library card to find out what the public library can do for them. So, ready, set, geek!
