The Lady Govs lapped the field with 234 points, ahead of Murray State (106.5) and Western Kentucky (102.5). Jacksonville State (fourth, 96.5), Belmont (sixth, 48) and Tennessee Tech (seventh, 12) also represented the Ohio Valley Conference in the meet at Governors Stadium, which will be the site of next month’s 2015 OVC Outdoor Championships. Lipscomb (fifth, 62.5) and Loyola-New Orleans (eighth, five) rounded out the field.

Sophomore Kaylnn Pitts set the tone Friday evening with a school-record 12.71m triple jump at Pettus Park, winning the event ahead of classmate Chancis Jones, who recorded a personal-best of her own at 12.46m. Pitts came back on Saturday to win the long jump as well with a personal-best 5.87m leap, with Jones hitting 5.76m for runner-up honors.

On Saturday, much of the action on the track belonged to Austin Peay, which placed athletes at the top of the podium in seven different disciplines. Senior Erika Adams became the first Lady Gov in 2015 to break the 12-second mark in the 100m dash, winning the event with an 11.97 run – Austin Peay swept the 100m podium with juniors Breigh Jones (12.07) and Lamontra Robinson (12.28) flanking Adams.

Jones, who did not compete in the 400m this week, was nonetheless busy on Saturday. In addition to her 100m mark, the magical Memphian took the 200m title with a season-best 24.39 and led Austin Peay to wins in the 4x100m relays (46.26 with Adams, Robinson and Kymmalett Ross) and the 4x400m as well (3:50.31, with Jessica Gray, Michaela McGhee and Terri Morris). The relay marks are the best by an Austin Peay squad in 2015.

Jones led an extremely strong 200m group on Saturday, with Austin Peay taking the top six spots in the 18-runner field. Joining Jones at the top of the lists were freshman Sonja White (24.90) and sophomore Terri Morris (25.05).

Gray won the 800m run for the second time in as many weeks, pacing the field with a 2:12.85 mark a week after picking up the win at the Hilltopper Relays.

Austin Peay was solid in the hurdles as well on Saturday. In addition to senior Natalie Olberding‘s win in the 400m event (1:02.20), the Lady Govs took the top three spots in the 100m, led by sophomore Myiah Johnson (14.30); sophomore Amia Butler (14.42) and freshman Sonja White (14.77) each posted season-bests in the event.

While Jones was not entered in the 400m this week, freshman Allysha Scott acquitted herself nicely, posting a personal-best 58.37 in the event to take runner-up honors.

Lydia Saina continued to show her mettle in the 5000m run, hitting a personal-best with a fourth-place, 18:26.54 run, while sophomore Autumn Schmelzer also hit a personal-best in the shot put with a 38.49m toss, placing sixth.

The Lady Govs are set to return to action at next week’s Drake Relays.
