Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: 50 Plus Olympics, Meet Davy Crockett at Fort Defiance, Just Ordinary Exercise Program, Liberty Live Summer Concert Series, Warrior Week Concert, and Family Campout.

50 Plus Olympics

Early Bird Deadline is Approaching

Register for Clarksville’s 50 Plus Olympics by April 24th to pay the “early bird rate” of just $20! This event is open to those at least 50-years-old and will take place at various locations in Clarksville, May 12th-16th. You don’t have to be a pro to compete!

Competitors can enjoy bowling, table tennis, pickleball, badminton, horseshoes, shuffleboard, mini golf, track & field events, and more! Competitors can also enjoy a delicious, Mardi Gras themed meal at the closing dinner!

Meet Davy Crockett at Fort Defiance

See history come to life as you meet the legendary Davy Crockett at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center! Arthur Hunt will offer an authentic characterization of Tennessee’s most famous volunteer, Davy Crockett. Come to hear stories from Crockett’s youth all the way until his departure to Texas exactly the way Davy would tell them himself.

Meet Davy Crockett will be held Saturday, April 25th at 10:00am and again at 2:00pm. Admission is free.

Just Ordinary Exercise Program

Skip the gimmicks or fad diets and go for Just Ordinary Exercise this spring and summer! Our Instructor, Coach Hart, can help you reach your individual fitness goal with the J.O.E. program at the Kleeman Community Center. To ensure you get the proper attention, class space is limited to the first 20 participants so be sure to register soon.

Classes begin April 27th and are held Monday through Thursday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The cost for the nine-week session is $65.00 with a Community Center ID.

Liberty Live Summer Concert Series

The Liberty Live summer concert series returns for its second season at Liberty Park on Friday, May 1st! This first concert in the series will feature Americana artist, The Mike + Ruthy Band. Admission is free but concessions will be available for purchase. The show is set to begin at 6:30pm and conclude at 9:30pm.

Be sure and mark your calendars for future shows in this series! Concerts will be held June 5th and August 7th at the park.

Warrior Week Concert

The City of Clarksville is proud to honor all military personnel and their families on Friday, May 8th, by hosting a free concert featuring award-winning, Country artists Little Texas! This FREE concert will begin at 6:30pm at Liberty Park. Concessions will be available for purchase.

The concert is open to the public and there will be concession discounts given to those with a military ID.

Family Campout

Sleep under the stars at Billy Dunlop Park on May 16th through 17th! The Family Campout is $10.00 per person or $40.00 per family (up to 6 members) and will include an afternoon and evening of games and fun as well as a hot dog dinner and breakfast provided Sunday morning.

Families must provide their own tent and sleeping materials. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Be sure to pre-register by midnight Thursday, May 14th at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Main Office or online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.
