Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Mayor’s Fitness Council was recently awarded a $9,500 grant by The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation to further its Clarkswell movement.
The Mayor’s Fitness Council has established the unique Clarkswell brand to identify Clarksville as a healthier place to work and play. Through this community-wide effort, the MFC created the Clarkswell Workplace initiative designed for employers who seek to improve employee health.
“I appreciate the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation for investing in our community through these grant awards,” said Clarksville Mayor McMillan. “The Mayor’s Fitness Council has been working very hard to develop programs and initiatives that will have a real impact on improving the health and fitness opportunities in Clarksville. This grant will provide much needed resources to their plans to fruition.”The grant will provide Clarksville companies with key resources to implement a healthier environment at work. By becoming identified as a Clarkswell workplace, organizations can create long lasting, sustainable changes that support an employee‘s efforts to be healthy.
Healthy workplace policies attract and maintain high quality employees that are healthier and more productive. The Clarkswell movement will also expand efforts to achieve higher levels of well-being in schools, parks, congregations, and other organizations.
The Mayor’s Fitness Council (MFC) was one of Mayor’s McMillan’s earliest initiatives and emphasizes her commitment to make Clarksville one of the healthiest cities to live, work and raise a family.
