“We are here today doing a Karing for Kenai festival. So far the event is going great, far better than I could have ever imagined,” stated Kelley Hodges, event organizer. “I want to think everyone for coming out today in support of Kenai. I also want thank all of the volunteers that have made this possible.”

The event started at 7:00am with a yard sale of donated items. There was plenty of food to be purchased, vendors, a silent auction, “Karing for Kenai” t-shirts for sale, games, bouncy houses, a bake sale and a car wash.

“The Montgomery Central Junior Beta Club is here washing cars to raise money for Kenai at the festival today,” stated Wendy Matheney.

Everyone stopped and looked when at least 20 bikers with Bikers Who Care rumbled into the parking lot.

“We were contacted by Kelley Hodges, one of the organizers of the event, and asked if we would be willing to help out. Obviously this is right down our wheelhouse, so we told her absolutely we would be here,” said Billy Hughes with Bikers Who Care.

Besides their visit, BWC had another surprise for Kenai. They presented here with a $1,000 donation from the organization. After the check presentation, the bikers each signed a pink cap for Kenai.

“Oh man, that was the ticket right there. Kenai was in awe with that of course,” stated Michelle Langley, Kenai’s mother. “Big old mean bikers, nope, they care, they truly care.”

As the afternoon, more and more people came out to the event. Some were looking over items at the yard sale. Others were purchasing food and listening to the bands play. Smaller donation buckets were getting full and being emptied into the large bucket on the stage.

When asked how Kenai was doing, Michelle Langley said, “This week she’s doing pretty good. She has her days and stuff like that. She has been resting for this event. She hasn’t gone anywhere very much because she wanted to save all her energy for this event. She was really excited to see all of her friends because she doesn’t get to see them very much since she is home bound.”

“Karing for Kenai was an benefit event to help Kenai and her family with everything they are going through,” stated Hilltop manager Cody Jackson. “It’s an event were the community pulled together to raise money and show their support for her. It’s the community pulling together and doing something for one of their own.”

“I just want to give everyone who came out today a huge thank you and if I could hung everyone of them and give them all a thank you personally I would,” said Michelle Langley. “I just want to tell everybody thank you for coming out and I’m really blessed to have these people in my life.”
