Clarksville Police report shooting in Bel Aire Park area Tuesday night

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Shortly after 10:30pm last night, May 12th, several residents in the area of Bel Aire Park called the E911 Center to report hearing numerous gunshots and vehicles leaving the area at high speed.

Clarksville Police Officers located several bullet casings near a store on the 800 block of Peachers Mill Road and interviewed people in the area. A pistol was also found nearby.

A short time later, Gateway Medical Center reported a patient with a gunshot wound at the emergency room. That individual was interviewed by a detective after being treated and released from the hospital, but he refused to cooperate and provided little information.

It appears from the initial investigation that two groups of people encountered each other in the store parking lot and exchanged gunfire. None of the people involved in the incident called police. All of the E911 calls came from nearby residents.

Officers located a silver Honda Accord with several bullet holes at that location, but a relative of the victim had reportedly already placed him in another car to take him to Gateway Emergency Room. The victim was life-flighted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center from Gateway.
