Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson announces THDA Grant to Provide Housing for Homeless Veterans

State of TennesseeNashville, TN – Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson announced that the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) had recently awarded a $235,705 Housing Trust Fund (HTF) grant to Buffalo Valley.

The grant will be used to finance the rehabilitation of six homes that will provide transitional housing for 48 homeless Veterans. Two of the homes are located in Clarksville and will serve up to 14 individuals.

“We value the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who serve our country in the military,” said Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson. “I appreciate the continued partnership between THDA and Buffalo Valley to ensure those who defend our country have a place to call home when they return from service.”

The Housing Trust Fund (HTF) was created by the THDA Board of Directors to support innovative housing initiatives that serve the needs of Tennessee’s most vulnerable residents. All funding for the HTF is derived from earnings generated through THDA’s Single Family Mortgage program.

HTF grants are awarded to government and non-profit organizations through a competitive application process. Since 2006, THDA has provided $33.6 million in HTF grants that helped construct or preserve almost 1,900 affordable units for both rental and homeownership.
