Land Between The Lakes to Celebrate National Trails Day

Land Between the Lakes - LBLOffice of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – In celebration of the 23rd Annual National Trails Day on Saturday, June 6th, Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to help with general trail maintenance on the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail.

Volunteers will meet at Golden Pond Visitor Center at 8:30am and work until around 12:00pm. Bring lunch, water bottles, and wear appropriate clothing, i.e., long pants, hiking boots, gloves, etc. The Forest Service will provide all tools and equipment, tick spray, and safety glasses.

“Trails provide a great way to enjoy America’s Great Outdoors,” commented Kyle Varel, Trails Manager at Land Between The Lakes. “We offer hundreds of miles of scenic trails for hikers, bikers, and riders.”

Woodlands Nature Station staff offers FREE guided nature hikes every Tuesday morning in June from 11:00am-12:00pm. Hikes are on trails within Woodlands Nature Watch Area.

Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area manages more than 170,000 acres in western Kentucky and Tennessee as part of the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Agriculture’s public lands program. Land Between The Lakes offers outdoor recreation, lake access, land management, and environmental education to over 1.4 million visitors annually.

The Friends of Land Between The Lakes works in partnership with the Forest Service providing program services, funds development, and volunteer support.
