Fort Campbell welcomes home Rakkasan Soldiers returning from Afghanistan

RakkasanFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – On Monday, June 8th, 2015, more than 100 Soldiers from Company A, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans,” 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), were welcomed home at Hangar 3.

The Rakkasan Soldiers returned from Afghanistan where they were assigned to Train, Advise, Assist, Command-East (TAAC-E) providing support for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational organizations, conducting functionally-based security force assistance through Train-Advise-Assist in order to enable a credible, capable, increasingly sustainable Afghan National Security Forces capable of preventing terrorist safe havens in eastern Afghanistan.
