Nashville, TN – Nashville Zoo invites the public to recognize the work of its animal care staff during National Zoo Keeper Week July 19th – 25th.
During National Zoo Keeper Week, zoos nationwide highlight animal care professionals and the work they do in animal care, conservation, and education.
Nashville Zoo will be honoring its team with several activities throughout the week that guests can participate in to learn more about this unique profession.
Public activities include:
Tools of the Trade – Friday, July 24th beginning at 11:00am, Guests can visit the Amphitheater and learn about the different tools, like snake hooks, hay and falconry gloves, that are used by keepers every day. Staff will be on-hand demonstrating how these items are used and letting guests try their hand at different tasks. A training demonstration will take place at 1:30pm.
All week long, guests can drop off pictures, notes of appreciation or questions for the keepers at the Zoo ticket booth. All fan mail received will be on display at the Zoo’s Croft Center building.
Guests can attend keeper talks at exhibits throughout the Zoo every day.
