Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee receives Book Proceeds Donation from Nashville Lawyer

Legal Aid Society named one of three beneficiaries

Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the CumberlandsNashville, TN – Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm, announced that Nashville lawyer Randy Kinnard, with Kinnard, Clayton & Beveridge, has named Legal Aid Society one of three organizations to receive proceeds from his book, “Respect: Through the Eyes of Children.

Released last fall, Kinnard’s book is a collection of essays written by local students that illustrate the definition of respect from a youth’s perspective.

The stories were gathered from fifth grade students around Davidson County through Kinnard, Clayton & Beveridge’s annual RESPECT Contest.

Each year, the contest generates between 1,200 and 1,300 entries. The top essays are those published in the book.

The proceeds from the book will be split between Legal Aid Society, Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee and the Nashville Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. For Kinnard, compiling the essays and donating the proceeds is just another way to spread the virtue of respect.

“Respect cannot be obtained if justice does not prevail. The two really go hand in hand, and that is why I wanted to give back to Legal Aid Society,” said Kinnard. “The advocacy and compassion that Legal Aid Society attorneys provide to low-income clients restores their hope and dignity, which communicates value and respect –no matter one’s background.”

“Respect is a core value within our firm and embedded  with our interactions with the individuals we serve,” said Gary Housepian, Legal Aid Society’s executive director. “We are honored and grateful that Randy has decided to support Legal Aid Society with this important initiative.”

Kinnard’s book can be purchased online at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com.
