Schools recognized as reward  school for academic achievement include: Carmel Elementary, Hazelwood Elementary, Sango Elementary and the Middle College at Austin Peay State University.

Those recognized for improvement in proficiency rate progress include: Byrns Darden Elementary, Cumberland Heights Elementary, Kenwood Elementary, Minglewood Elementary, Montgomery Central High, Northeast Elementary and Pisgah Elementary.

In another measure of progress, CMCSS received a “5,” the highest possible on all 12 measured  growth targets.  These targets represent a comprehensive view of the district from a number of academic perspectives.  The score of a “5” means our students made higher than expected growth in the measured academic areas.

“We are so proud of the schools that have earned the reward school status,” said Schools Director B.J. Worthington.  “There was definitely hard work that went into achieving that recognition.  We improved overall as a district and we had many of our schools that made significant progress and so we celebrate their successes also.”

“Our district is fortunate to have great staff, parents, and community support.  Everyone should be proud of what has been achieved.  This is certainly great news as we begin another school year.  Our goal will be to continue to build on the 2014-15 successes as we transition to the Tennessee Standards and the new TNReady assessment,” Worthington added.

Last year, CMCSS had four Reward Schools: Hazelwood for growth and achievement; Middle College for achievement; Norman Smith for growth and Carmel for achievement.
