APSU moves Seth Billings to associate head athletic trainer, Nate Maresh and Makenzi Alsip added to training department

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TNSeth Billings, who has served as an Austin Peay State University athletic trainer since 2007, has been named associate head athletic trainer.

In addition, APSU head athletic trainer Joni Johnson also has announced the recent hires of Nate Maresh and Makenzi Alsip as certified assistant athletic trainers.

Billings arrived at APSU in summer of 2007 after serving as an interim assistant athletic trainer at Indiana State, working primarily with women’s basketball.

The 2004 Lindenwood graduate (athletic training), who also played football at the school, received his master’s degree (sports management) from Missouri State (2006).

At APSU, Billings served as women’s basketball trainer for the 2007-08 season before becoming the football trainer the following season. A St. Louis native, he has served the football program in that capacity for the past seven years.

Maresh came to APSU earlier this summer after serving as an intern at Tennessee State for a year. He received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Wisconsin-Eau Claire (2008), working in the Mercy Health System (Janesville, WI) clinic and outreach programs with the local school system. He attained his master’s in biomechanics and sports psychology from Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2014). He served as the school’s assistant athletic trainer, working with women’s soccer during Spring 2013.

Alsip is a 2013 graduate in athletic training from the University of Evansville, where she also was a four-year cheerleader. She received her master’s in recreation and sports management last spring from Tennessee. At Evansville, she worked as the senior student athletic trainer for baseball in 2012-13. She also worked with men and women’s basketball, diving, swimming, cross country and women’s soccer. At Tennessee, Alsip primarily worked with track and field, cheerleading and dance teams.
