Annual Austin Peay State University Govs Football reunion to honor 1964-65 teams during season opener

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s annual football reunion will honor members of the 1964 and 1965 football teams, September 4th-5th, during the weekend of the football Govs’ season opener against Mercer.

APSU’s football reunion will begin 8:00am, Friday, September 4th, with a golf scramble at Swan Lake Golf Course.

Cost is $30.00, including greens fee and lunch. Later that day a reception and dinner will be held, 5:00pm, at the Charles Hand Farm, located off 1-24 at Exit 19.

Game day, Saturday, will see a 10:00am, brunch in the Governors Stadium Club. Football alums will receive complimentary brunch and football tickets for the day’s activities. For non-football alums the brunch cost is $10.00 per person, with registration beginning at 9:30am in the Governors Stadium lobby. After the brunch, football alums can reconvene at the Governors Club Tailgate tent in Tailgate Alley.

The football alums then will work their way inside the stadium for the 4:00pm, kickoff as the Govs play host to Mercer.

Members of the 1964 and 1965 teams will be honored at timeouts during the opening half. Those two seasons, under Bill Dupes, represented APSU’s initial two in the Ohio Valley Conference. The teams combined for a 16-2-1 record (8-1-1, 1964; 8-1, 1965).  All Govs football alums will be recognized in the second half.
