Still they finished the tournament with their second-best round, shooting a 311 to finish at 933 to end in 14th place. The Lady Govs could only get seven birdie putts to drop during the day that saw play halted by fog.

Senior Jessica Cathey led the Lady Govs in the final round, shooting a 3-over 74. Freshman Taylor Goodley, in her first tourney, made it three straight sub-80 scores with a 78 for a team-low 228, one shot ahead of Cathey.

“I am proud of the way Taylor came out strong in her first event,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “Jessica played strong today—I was very proud of her focus.”

Junior AnnaMichelle Moore gave APSU its first day of three sub-80 scores with a 78 while Morgan Kauffman and Morgan Gardner shot 81 and 82, respectively.

“We have to figure out the difference in our qualifying mindset and confidence and bring that to tournaments,” Robson said. “I am encouraged that we will be ready to play well at Murray next week.”

In fact, the Lady Govs will have less than a week before playing next Monday and Tuesday at Miller Golf Course in Murray, KY. The tourney originally was scheduled for Drakes Creek in Paducah, but course issues forced it to be moved.
