However, the three opponents – Ole Miss, Troy and South Alabama – currently hold a combined record of 14-3-2, with APSU nearly earning a result at one-loss South Alabama on Sunday.

Junior Gina Fabbro recorded her first goal of 2015 in the 2-1 loss, ending a two-game scoreless streak. Senior Shelby Olszewski assisted on the tally, giving her two assists on the year along with a team-high 10 shot attempts. At goalkeeper, sophomore Lindsey Todd has started all five games, making 27 saves in 65 shots faced.

The Leathernecks (1-4-0) are also rebounding following three-straight defeats, with their lone win coming against Eastern Illinois on August 28th. With a balanced attack, three different players have scored goals for WIU, with Jessop Skyler leading the team in shots with 11.

Last Time Against Western Illinois

Austin Peay and Western Illinois met for the first time on August 27th, 2010 at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field. In a 1-0 victory, the Lady Govs only needed a successful penalty kick by Tatiana Ariza in the 43rd minute, which improved their record to 3-0. APSU held a 14-8 shot advantage, three by Ariza, while Haylee Shoaff and Carley Newman combined for a clean sheet in goal.

Keep An Eye On

With a goal on Friday, Gina Fabbro, who has 15 career goals, would take sole possession of third all-time in scoring.

Goalkeeper Lindsey Todd needs one save to surpass her total from 2014 (27).

As Ohio Valley Conference play nears, head coach Kelley Guth continues to experiment with the starting 11. With loads of depth on the squad, many players will be given opportunities until a consistent lineup is set.
