Tennessee Department of Transportation releases Update on Rossview Road/Exit 8 Construction

Tennessee Department of TransportationNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is currently widening SR 237 (Rossview Road) to a five lane facility, from west of Interstate 24 to east of International Boulevard, near Clarksville, Montgomery County.

The summer months have allowed crews to make significant progress on Phase I of the project.

All newly installed utilities are operational. AT&T and Charter services are the last utilities to be relocated.

Storm drain installation and roadway embankment work are ongoing, with Phase I of both areas expected to be completed in the next two months.

Of the two bridges under construction, the concrete deck on the first bridge has been poured and set. Approach slabs, which provide a transition between roadway pavement and the bridges, and steel and form work for railings on both bridges are underway.

The concrete on the interstate ramps to and from SR 237 has been removed and replaced; however, the temporary ramp detours will remain in place until all traffic is shifted at the end of Phase I.

In the coming months, a traffic shift is expected to allow crews to demolish the old bridges. This work will require the closure of I-24 and Rossview Road for two weekends. Dates and times will be provided when the schedule is finalized.

Right-of-Way acquisition is underway for the new Park & Ride facility site at Exit 11 (SR 76 / Martin Luther King Jr Parkway). This process is expected to continue through the first of the year, with construction to follow. Riders will continue to use the current Park & Ride facility at Exit 8 until construction of the new site is completed. No additional spaces will be added to the current facility site.

Key Project Events

  • Temporary ramp detours and traffic signals remain at Rossview Road interchange
  • Bridge beams set for both new bridges
  • Bridge decks, railings, and approach slabs underway
  • Traffic shift and old bridge demolition tentatively scheduled for October
