Montgomery County’s Students on Committees Program Kicks Off

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is pleased to be kicking off the first year of our Students on Committees Program. Twelve students from area high schools have been selected to serve as ex-officio members of various County Government committees for the 2015-16 school year.

Students began attending committee meetings in September and will be included in all county activities for the remainder of the school year.

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett states, “I am excited about this new program. These students will get to directly participate in government meetings, events and projects, and get an understanding for the decisions and services that are an everyday part of County Government.”

Mayor Durret continues, “These students are bright, talented individuals that are interested in learning how local government operates. That is truly exciting to me, and I hope they find our program valuable and interesting. We are proud to have them join us this year and look forward to hearing their perspectives and to learning from them as well!”
