For the third year in a row, the Nashville Komen affiliate has awarded the grant to the two organizations to provide breast health education and services to underserved populations in this community.

“This grant helps provide mammography services to underserved women in Montgomery County, and it gives our nursing students an opportunity to do community education and service in our community regarding breast health,” Dr. Patty Orr, APSU professor and occupant of the Lenora C. Reuther Chair of Excellence in Nursing, said previously.

Orr wrote the Komen grant with Joey Smith, director of the county health department.

“The goal of this program is to identify any cancer early when it can be treated successfully,” Orr said.
