APSU Governors Golf in 11th place at WKU Kenny Perry Invitational

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBowling Green, KY – Darkness ended Round 2 of the WKU Kenny Perry Invitational with first-round results leaving Austin Peay State University men’s golf team tied for 11th in the event being played at The Club at Olde Stone.

The Governors shot an opening-round 316. Although complete second-round results were not in before darkness, the Govs did complete the round, improving to a 298, leaving them at 614.

Austin Kramer leads the Governors, bouncing back from a 78 to shoot a 1-over 73 second round for a 151. Fellow seniors Chris Baker (78-76) and Tyler Phillips (81-73) were three shots back at 154 while sophomore Justin Arens bounced back from a first-round 81 to shoot 76 in the second round for 157. Junior Erik Hedberg shot 161 (79-82).

The Governors could achieve only nine birdies in the morning round against six double bogeys. The Govs also had a triple bogey and a quad in the opening round. However, they settle down in the afternoon. Although they had just nine birdies, they eliminated the big numbers for the most part.

In fact, Kramer, who had three birdies and nine bogeys in the first round, had just one bogey to go with 17 pars in the afternoon. The Governors had only two doubles, a triple bogey and a quad in the afternoon.

Monday’s second round will be completed before the third round will be played Tuesday on the par-72 7319-yard layout.
