Clarksville selected for Veterans Economic Communities Initiative

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County – Montgomery County was recently informed by the Department of Veterans Affairs that Clarksville has been selected as one of 25 cities across the nation for the Veterans Economic Communities Initiative (VECI) for 2016!

The VECI aims to increase the number of education and employment opportunities for Veterans and their families through a network of support at the community level.

Each VECI community will have an economic liaison, a position funded through the Department of Veterans Affairs, challenged with collaborating with government leaders, businesses, educational institutions and nonprofits to help build an integrated network of support and resources for Veterans and their families.

Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett states, “I am very pleased that we have been selected as a VECI community for 2016! This is a great opportunity for us to continue to support and empower our local veterans and provide them with the resources necessary for continued success. This is yet another tool to assist our veterans in making the decision to stay in Montgomery County after serving.”
