APSU Governors Tennis travels to Knoxville for ITA Ohio Valley Regional

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team returns to the court as a full squad when it travels to Knoxville for the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, beginning Thursday at the University of Tennessee.

The Govs will regroup as one unit for the second time this fall season. Juniors Aaron Jumonville and Manuel Montenegro competed as individuals in the ITA Men’s All-American Championships, but this week, each active player is set to play against the top players in the region.

Doubles play will begin at 8:00am ET, Thursday, with 64 pairings vying to advance in a bracket-style competition.

Sophomore Aleh Drobysh and freshman Chad Woodham meet Indiana’s Antonio Cembellin and Elliot Yee, while senior Evan Borowski and freshman Taylor Graalman get their first look at Ohio Valley Conference member Morehead State, facing Nick Mercer and Sabastian Penaloza.

At 8:30am, the experienced duo of Jumonville and Montenegro face-off with Xavier’s Jeremy Schneider and Arthur Stefani.

First serve for singles play is set for 10:00am, where Drobysh faces Mason Dragos, of Butler, and Montenegro faces Murray State’s David Hess.

Beginning at 11:00am, Jumonville meets Indiana’s Daniel Bednarczyk, while Borowski plays against Courtney Lock, of Louisville.

Rounding out the first round is Woodham vs. Tennessee’s Luis Valero (12:30pm) and Graalman vs. IUPUI’s David Beasley.
