Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUMurfreesboro, TN – Fresh off its F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate victory, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will head to Old Fort Golf Club, Monday and Tuesday, to participate in the 2015 Blue Raider Invitational.

The 54-hole event (36 Monday, 18 Tuesday) will be played on a par-72, 6369-yard layout.

The strong 16-team field includes four other Ohio Valley Conference representatives—Belmont, Murray State, Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech.

In addition to host Middle Tennessee, the tourney also will see Boston College, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, Little Rock, Missouri-Kansas City, South Alabama, Troy, UTEP, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and Western Kentucky. It represents one of the strongest fields the Lady Govs face all season and one of the more difficult courses.

“We are looking forward to playing Old Fort this week,” APSU Women’s Golf head coach Sara Robson said. “The course is challenging and plays long. We hope to take the confidence gained last week and play well.”

The Lady Govs captured their own tourney by rallying from an eight-shot deficit on the final day to win by six shots (619 to 625) against Lipscomb. That came as a result of APSU shooting a second-round 306, the Lady Govs’ second lowest Clarksville Country Club round in the F&M.

Senior Jessica Cathey, who not only was the F&M medalist (74-71=145) but the OVC Women’s Golfer of the Week as well, again will lead the Lady Govs at Old Fort. Also playing will be a pair of juniors, Morgan Kauffman and Morgan Gardner—and the two freshmen Taylor Goodley and Ashton Goodley. The former, playing as an individual, finished third (75-77=152) during the F&M.

“To be successful, we will need to stay focused and hit solid shots,” Robson said. “It will be key to worry less about what things look and just focus on scoring.”
