Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: Adaptive Swim Day, One Frightful Night, Indoor Aquatic Center to host event just for toddlers, and Quick Silver Social for seniors.

The Indoor Aquatic Center to host Adaptive Swim Day October 30th

The Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, invites children and adults with mental or physical disabilities to Adaptive Swim Day on Friday, October 30th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Learn more about our Adaptive Swim Lessons, become familiar with the pool and meet our instructors. Swimmers will have the opportunity to get in the water, access the Wibits, and enjoy crafts and refreshments.

Cost to attend the event is $1.50 per person, including adults. Pre-registration is not required, attendees can pay at the door. Additional lifeguards will be on-site and a chair lift and stairs will be available to provide easy entry into the pool.

One Frightful Night offers safe trick-or-treating October 31st

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Altra Federal Credit Union and the downtown businesses to present One Frightful Night, also known as Fright on Franklin, on Saturday, October 31st from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in downtown Clarksville.

One Frightful Night is a free, family-friendly event sponsored by Altra Federal Credit Union, featuring safe trick-or-treating, costume contests, and much more! Visitors will get to experience a Halloween treat throughout Historic Downtown including crafts and activities with local downtown businesses, food and drink, as well as the candy and events planned by Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department.

Once again, pre-registration for the costume contests is required. There will be no registration the day of the event. Contest participants can register now at the Parks and Recreation office or online at www.cityofclarksville.com/fright to participate. Register early, spots fill up quickly!

The contest times and age groups are as follows:

  • 3:15pm – Ages 0-2
  • 3:45pm – Ages 3-6
  • 4:15pm – Ages 7-9
  • 4:45pm – Ages 10-12
  • 5:15pm – Groups

All costumes should be in good taste and appropriate for a family event. Registrants are asked to arrive 15-minutes prior to their scheduled time to check-in.

Indoor Aquatic Center to host event just for toddlers!

Don’t miss the first Toddler Splash Pool Party of the season on Wednesday, November 4th. This monthly event for children ages 5-years-old and younger, takes place on the first Wednesday of every month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

At Toddler Splash, children ages 1 to 5-years-old can enjoy activities each month such as, water games, crafts and other seasonal fun! Cost to attend is $3.00 per person, including adults. A parent or adult guardian must accompany toddlers in the water. This event will allow youngsters to enjoy getting acquainted with the water or practicing previously learned water safety skills.

Kleeman Community Center to host Quick Silver Social for seniors

Seniors, get out and about and enjoy the fun on Saturday, November 14th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at the Doo Wop Sock Hop. Suggested attire is 1950’s Grease Retro but all are encouraged to simply dress your best and be yourself. Filled with fun, food and fellowship join us for this FREE event as we reminisce in the memories and celebrate today.

Quick Silvers are semi-formal dance parties where residents 50+ can meet people, socialize and dance; however all community members are welcome to attend. These events are catered and include a DJ. Cohosted by the Distinguished Steppers Unlimited. Can’t attend this event? Save the date for our next Quick Silver Social on February 16th.
