Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Woods Walk, Sunset Hike, Volunteer Opportunity and Kids Discover Bats.

Thursday, November 5th

Woods Walk

Time: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Ages: All ages

End the day with a brisk walk on our one mile Short Loop Trail as our ranger tells you about the forest habitat.

Reservations Required by: 4:30pm, November 3rd.

Friday, November 6th

Sunset Hike

Time: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Ages: All ages

The light is wonderful this time of day at this time of the year. Come out and experience the sunset lighting up the trees (if the weather is good, if not, we’ll enjoy the rain).

Reservations Required by: 4:30pm, November 4th.

Saturday, November 7th

Volunteer Opportunity

Time: 10:00am
Ages: 12 – adult

Bring your work gloves and help us clean the leaves off our trail bridges and boardwalks. The time this takes will depend upon the number of volunteers.
Please let us know you are coming by calling before 4:30pm November 5th.


Kids Discover Bats

Time: 4:00pm – 4:45pm
Ages: 5 – 12

Our bats are hibernating, but we can learn about them and bats around the world through this indoor program with a DVD on bats.

Reservations Required by: 4:30pm, November 5th.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.

Dunbar Cave State Park is located at 401 Old Dunbar Cave Road, Clarksville Tennessee.

Port Royal State Historic Park is located at 3300 Old Clarksville Springfield Road, Adams, Tennessee.
