APSU Volleyball’s April Adams named to CoSIDA Academic All-District™ Teams

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUGreenwood, IN – Senior April Adams, of the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, was named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Volleyball Teams, Thursday.

Adams, of Ashland City, Tennessee, becomes the first APSU Lady Govs player to receive first-team Academic All-District recognition since 2004.

As a first-team honoree, she advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot where first-, second- and third team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Enjoying her finest career season, Adams has posted a career-high 451 digs (4.30 per set) with four matches remaining in the regular season. Earlier this year she became the 19th Lady Govs student-athlete to record 1,000 career digs and her 1,212 career digs are 12th most in program history.

In the classroom, Adams entered her senior year with a 3.80 grade-point average and is pursuing her degree in mathematics. She has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.25 GPA for the academic year) each of her three years at Austin Peay. Adams has been named to the Austin Peay President’s List twice, the Dean’s List five times and has been a member of the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll each of her six semesters.

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America® program in the 1950’s, and since then has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americas in 12 sports.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games and be of sophomore athletic eligibility.
