Law Enforcement agencies to hold Robot Rodeo Saturday, November 7th in Clarksville

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The FBI, Fort Campbell, Nashville International Airport, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Bomb Squads will partner with middle school students on Saturday, November 7th for a Robot Rodeo competition at the Northeast School Campus.

The event kicks off at 9:00am. After opening comments, bomb squads will conduct several demonstrations to showcase the capabilities of their robots. Afterwards each bomb squad will be paired with a middle school and their students for the competition.

The contest will consist of seven obstacles. Each team will be given 15 minutes to complete each obstacle and score as many points as possible. Once their time is complete they will move on to the next obstacle.

Middle school students with coaching from their respective bomb squad will operate the robots. The seven obstacle they must complete include a shuttle run, crate stacking, a scrabble game, ring toss, bowling, math scrabble, and a basketball toss.

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.

The event is organized by the MCSO, Clarksville Montgomery County School System STEM Initiative, Robotics Teams, and the First LEGO League (FLL). The FLL is a non-profit organization founded to encourage young people’s interest in science and technology.

The event is open to the public. Concessions will be available. All proceeds will benefit the Middle School First LEGO League.
