Clarksville, TN – Senior guard Tiasha Gray, of the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Gray was her usual stellar self last week, averaging 20.3 points and 6.3 assists to help Austin Peay get out to a 2-1 start in 2015-16 with wins against Christian Brothers and Trevecca.
The Clarksville native’s flashiest performance came against the Govs’ top competition, as she stood toe-to-toe with a Cal program that knocked off eighth-ranked Louisville two nights later.
Against the Bears, she posted 28 points—her 25th career 20-point outing—including 5-of-10 from three-point range to go with five rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included
- Sophomore wide receiver Jared Beard, of the football team, had six catches for a season-high 110 yards and two touchdowns—the second multi-score game of his career—in the Governors season finale at Tennessee Tech.
- Senior center Chris Horton, of the men’s basketball team, averaged a double-double (12.0 ppg, 13.0 rpg) against Top-25 opponents Vanderbilt (No. 18) and Indiana (No. 15) in the Governors first two 2015 contests.
- Junior outside hitter Sammie Ebright, of the volleyball team, wrapped up the season with a 15-kill, 17-dig outing against Eastern Kentucky in a 3-0 APSU victory.
