During the event, the chapter registered 505 APSU students to vote in local, state and national elections.

The program was launched by the national fraternity in the early 1930s to increase voter registration amongminorities.

This year, APSU’s Tau Phi Chapter set out to register 500 people in one month. Chapter members believed many students were too busy with work, school, family and social obligations to wait in line at the Montgomery County Election Commission.

To remedy this issue, the chapter set up several tables around the APSU campus and orchestrated various voter registration drives throughout September.

Fraternity members attended a training hosted by the County Election Commission, and they also invited a representative from the commission to assist in the first registration in the Morgan University Center.
