Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announces School Resource Officers of the Year

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) announces the School Resource Officer of the Year recipients.

Deputy Jayme DeLarosa is the Elementary School SRO of Year, Deputy Richard Brown Jr. is the Middle School SRO of Year, and Deputy Tammy Axley is the High School SRO of the Year.

The winners are determined after a three step selection process.

First SRO’s are nominated by their fellow peers. Then nominees are evaluated by school system administration.

And finally the SRO’s supervisors review all the information provided and select the winners.

Deputy DeLarosa is also the recipient of the Point of Pride award given by the school system. She designed and implemented an anti-bullying program for Montgomery Central Elementary School and Cumberland Heights Elementary School.

Deputy Brown is described as a mentor to students who are struggling and need support at Richview Middle School. He’s often seen helping at the front office, instructing classes when teachers call upon him, and monitoring the lunch room.

He’s also known for consistently donating baked goods for special events and fundraisers.

Deputy Axley is a proactive member of the Safety Committee at Clarksville High School. She is known by parents as person who consistently and fairly enforces the law. She is often called upon by fellow SRO’s for advice.

“I am proud of the direction the SRO program is going and appreciate the dedication and commitment each of these SRO’s have given to their respective schools,” said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson. “We have to go above and beyond to make a positive impact with students. Deputies DeLarosa, Brown, and Axley make that impact every day.”

The winners each received a trophy and a $50.00 gift certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
