APSU Basketball’s Chris Horton named Austin Peay Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Senior center Chris Horton, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Horton averaged a double-double last week in three games, posting 17.0 points on 75 percent shooting (18-for-24) and pulling in 10.3 rebounds—including double-doubles against Cal Poly and Northern Colorado.

The Atlanta, GA native had his season’s first 20-point outing in the opening game of the Maui Invitational Regional bracket against Cal Poly.

He was nearly flawless from the floor in two games in Greeley, Colorado, hitting 13 of 15 shots against Cal Poly and Northern Colorado.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Senior guard Tiasha Gray, of the women’s basketball team, led APSU with 14.3 points, 4.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals during the Govs three-game road trip last week.
