Clarksville has Twenty-One New Recruits become Clarksville Fire Rescue Firefighters

Clarksville Fire RescueClarksville, TN – The Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville was a proud and happy place last Friday as Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan gave the oath of office to 21 new Clarksville Fire Rescue Recruits. Hundreds of family members were present when each new firefighter was “pinned” with their badge after signing the oath.

“I am so very proud of these recruits,” said Mayor McMillan. “They have worked very hard to get to this point and they are becoming a part of what I believe is the very best Department in the country.”

“This 21-member class makes up the largest number of recruits we’ve graduated at one time,” explained Chief Mike Roberts. “They are also the first to go through a rigorous eight week training program before they graduated. The motto we operate by is that we want every one of our people to go home in the morning exactly the way they arrived for work. The training these firefighters have completed is just the beginning.”

Mayor McMillan also explained that Clarksville Fire Rescue recently received a “2” ISO rating and is one of only 16 Departments in the State with that rating (the highest is “1”). A high ISO rating has a direct correlation with the insurance premiums homeowners pay in a city.

The new recruits will be assigned to their stations and shifts to begin work immediately.
