Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillian’s Thanksgiving Holiday Message

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reminded again just how precious life is. It’s easy to watch the news these days and be afraid. It’s also easy to look around at our community and be very grateful.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Thanksgiving this year. Changes in my own family will make the holiday very different for us. Some traditions will carry on, others may not seem as important but what will always remain is the opportunity to be thankful.

We are fortunate to live in a community where we have that opportunity every day. There are thousands of people in Clarksville who have made giving their mission. They volunteer, they think of others first, they live in service to the people around them. They make our community so much stronger. Almost always, they do so without recognition.

I have the good fortune to work with many of these people. They are the City employees who go above and beyond their job descriptions or routine tasks to make a difference to our citizens. They are the people who devote time to serve on boards or commissions or non-profit organizations. They are the volunteers at our agencies that work with people who just need a little help out of bad circumstances. They are the veterans who make Clarksville their home after a career of service to our nation.

During this Thanksgiving holiday, I thank you for the difference you make in our community. No matter how long you’ve been here or why you chose Clarksville, we are thankful that you are here.

From my family to yours, have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
