“To me, it means all of our hard work is worth it,” Katelyn Clark, editor-in-chief, said. “We’re not all journalism majors, and we are not all going to be journalists. It’s a really extraordinary feeling to have our hard work pay off and be recognized.”

In addition to the publication’s award, Clark was awarded with an honorable mention for display advertising. It was the first individual national award for Clark, and the first for The All State in an advertising category.

“It’s just … mind-blowing. Even though it’s an individual award, I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere without these people and this publication,” Clark said. “It’s a collaboration.”

The All State is celebrating its 85th anniversary of publication in 2015-16, making it one of the longest standing traditions at APSU. The newspaper is planning a variety of events to recognize the anniversary.
