Nashville, TN – The National Weather Service reports some of the coldest temperatures of this winter are expected over the next 24 to 30 hours.
A combination of north winds of 5 to 10 mph along with temperature readings in the teens this morning and only a warm up into the mid to upper 20’s this afternoon will create wind chills in the teens and single digits today. While winds will calm tonight, single digit morning lows are expected Tuesday morning.
While ice accumulations are expected to be small, this will still have a heavy impact on travel around the mid-state Wednesday morning.
Temperatures are expected to warm back above freezing Wednesday afternoon and melt any accumulated ice.
Yet another system is expected to arrive Thursday, starting as all rain during the day Thursday. Cold air will filter in quickly and turn the rain over to snow by daybreak Friday.
Snow accumulations will be possible with this system as well. Please remain weather aware and monitor future forecasts as we move through the upcoming week.
