Gray, of Leawood, Kansas, led the Govs in batting average (.366), home runs (14) and RBI (39) last season despite missing the final quarter of the season after suffering a hand injury April 24th against Morehead State.

He was a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Award – awarded by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers to the national player of the year.

Prior to his injury, Gray was amid a power surge that saw him hit all 14 of his home runs in his final 22 games played. The outburst pushed him to 33rd among Division I hitters in home runs and the 14 round-trippers were ninth-most in program history.

Gray was the only Ohio Valley Conference player named to D1Baseball.com’s three teams and one of only seven players from the mid-major ranks recognized.
