Austin Peay State University’s Tiasha Gray, Josh Robinson earn TSWA Player of the Week honors

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsNashville, TN – Two Austin Peay State University basketball players – senior Tiasha Gray and sophomore Josh Robinson – were named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Players of the Week, Tuesday.

Gray, who earns her second TSWA award this season, averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists in back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference victories over Morehead State and Eastern Illinois. Against the Eagles, the Clarksville native totaled 28 points, a school-record tying 13 assists, five rebounds and six steals, leading to APSU’s first road win of 2015-16.

Last Saturday against EIU, Gray added 17 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals, increasing her scoring average to 19.8 on the year.

Robinson also adds a second TSWA award to his collection, giving Austin Peay men’s team three total on the season – the other belonging to Chris Horton, December 22nd. Robinson averaged 29.5 points and converted 28-of-32 free throws in two overtime contests at the Dunn Center.

The St. Louis native racked up a career-best 39 points against SIU Edwardsville, Thursday, including a game-tying three-pointer with 0.3 seconds on the clock to force overtime. Two days later, against Eastern Illinois, Robinson finished with 20 points, while hitting another clutch shot with 27 seconds to play, forcing overtime once more.

Austin Peay’s women’s team will host SIU Edwardsville, Wednesday, before traveling to Southeast Missouri this weekend. The men begin a five-game road trip, with away contests at Morehead State (Wednesday) and Southeast Missouri (Saturday).
