Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Clarksville-Montgomery County

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for Clarksville-Montgomery County and the northern half of Middle Tennessee today, February 14th through early Monday morning.

A weather system moving in from the west will spread a wintry mix of snow, sleet and some freezing rain across areas generally along and north of Interstate 40 Sunday and Sunday night before changing to rain.

The snow will occur first, with areas along I-40 expected to have around 1 inch of snow, with 2 to 3 inch amounts near the Kentucky border and a few locally higher amounts for the highland rim and upper Cumberland.

The transition from snow to a wintry mix will move across the area from southwest to northeast late this afternoon and tonight. A brief period of freezing rain may occur during the transition causing some icy spots.

As warmer air continues moving into the area, precipitation will change over to all rain.

Winter Advisory Information

Timing: 9:00am Sunday until 6:00am CT Monday.
Main Impact: Hazardous travel conditions across the advisory area due to a wintry mix of snow, sleet and some freezing rain.
Accumulations: Around 1 inch of snow along interstate 40 with 2 to 3 inches of snow possible north of I-40 toward the Kentucky border. Less than one tenth of an inch of ice possible from freezing rain.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

Cheatham County, Davidson County, Dickson County, Houston County, Humphreys County, Montgomery County, Robertson County, Stewart County, Sumner County, and Wilson County.
