APSU Savannah Amato

Amato equaled her season-best 3.81m (12-06.00) pole vault mark at last weekend’s Music City Challenge, finishing eighth overall in the 19-athlete field. Amato remains the conference leader in the event by six inches over her next-closest competition, teammate Dascha Hix.

The Delaware, Ohio native ranks 136th nationally in the event and is tied for 20th among the nation’s freshman pole vaulters.

Amato is Austin Peay’s first track and field student-athlete to earn a weekly honor from the conference office during the 2015-16 season; the Governors earned five indoor track honors a year ago, all by current senior Breigh Jones. Amato is the first APSU field athlete to earn a weekly honor since Kaylnn Pitts (April 1st, 2015) and the first to bring home a weekly award during indoor season since Amia Butler the week of January 29th, 2014.

Austin Peay is scheduled to compete in the Buckeye Tune-Up, Saturday, in Columbus, Ohio.
