Austin Peay will square off against a number of solid foes also seeking to firm up their standing before conference meets begin.

In addition to the host Buckeyes—who rank seventh in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region rankings entering the weekend—Austin Peay will face opponents from Ohio, Xavier, Miami (Ohio), Marshall and Bowling Green State, among others.

Twenty-two athletes will represent APSU this weekend, including current OVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Savannah Amato, who leads the conference at 3.81m (12-06.00) in the pole vault, six inches ahead of teammate Dascha Hix. The duo have stepped forward to give Austin Peay’s field events a consistently competitive presence in recent weeks with jumpers Chancis Jones and Kaylnn Pitts remaining sidelined due to injury.

Junior Myiah Johnson is approaching one of Austin Peay’s most established milestones. After posting a personal-best 8.55 in the 60m hurdles at the Music City Challenge last week, she’s now five-hundredths of a second behind Roni Hopkins school-record 8.49 mark, established in 2002—tied with Lauren Maul’s long jump (6.20m) and Sheena Gooding’s 800m (2:06.17) for third longest-standing milestone in the Austin Peay indoor record books.

After breaking the school record in the 200m dash, senior Kymmalett Ross is gaining ground on Tennessee State’s Amber Hughes for the top spot in the OVC in the event. She’s less than a tenth of a second behind Hughes’ 24.29 mark after posting a 24.37 last week—the second time in three weeks Ross broke the school record in the indoor 200m dash.

Next week, the Governors will conclude the indoor season at the 2016 OVC Indoor Championships, February 26th-27th, hosted by Tennessee State in Nashville.
