UT Vols Basketball gets rolled 84-58 at South Carolina Gamecocks

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsColumbia, SC Behind an offensive showcase and dominant night in the paint, South Carolina avoided a regular season sweep, defeating Tennessee 84-58 Wednesday night at Colonial Life Arena.

South Carolina’s 42-14 advantage in the paint gave the Gamecocks (23-5, 10-5 SEC) their most conference wins since 2009, while Tennessee (13-15, 6-9 SEC) continued its struggles away from home.

Devon Baulkman paced the Vols with 19 points, going 7-of-15 from the field and 5-of-10 from the 3-point line. His seven made field goals tied a career high. Shembari Phillips scored 16, while Armani Moore added 10. South Carolina’s Duane Notice led the Gamecocks in scoring with 17 points.

Clarksville Montgomery County area TDOT Maintenance Work starting February 25th, 2016

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that on Saturday February 27th, from 7:00am-3:00pm, I-24 Westbound will be closed at MM 8 (SR 237) for bridge construction. Traffic will be detoured using the SR 237 ramps. SR 237 (Rossview Road) will also be closed at this location.

This is part of the bridge replacement project over Interstate 24 (Exit 8) on State Route 237.

Clarksville Police Department releases Alcoholic Beverage Commission Operation results from February 20th, 2016

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Saturday, February 20th, 2016, Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Agents of the Clarksville Police Department’s Special Operation Unit conducted operations targeting the sales of alcohol to underage persons.

Compliance checks were done on 11 businesses with 8 businesses being found in compliance and 3 businesses cited for sales of alcohol to underage persons.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Ethan Moss saves a Man’s Life

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – A commendation has been awarded to Deputy Ethan Moss with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for saving a man’s life.

On February 4th, Deputy Moss responded to a 911 call in the 700 block of Merritt Lewis Lane. Upon arrival Moss found the homeowner unconscious and not breathing. He administered the automated external defibrillator (AED) and started CPR.

APSU Football brings on Max Thurmond as Linebackers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Max Thurmond joins the Austin Peay State University football coaching staff under first-year head coach Will Healy as the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach.

Late of West Alabama, Thurmond spent the past two seasons in a similar position for the Tigers.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN   The Tennessee Lady Vols (16-11, 7-7 SEC) will play their final road game of the season as they look to sweep Alabama (14-13, 3-11 SEC) . Tipoff is slated for 7:30pm CT/8:30pm ET at Foster Auditorium and the game will be available on SEC Network + (Online) and WatchESPN.

Additionally the game will also be a part of SEC Network’s Whip-Around coverage. The multi-game TV coverage will alternate between the seven games being played, 7:00pm-11:00pm ET.

Austin Peay State University to host artist lecture with Nashville-based designer and illustrator Rachel Briggs

This year will be an All-Star Reunion Show with 10 former Stars once again returning to the stage!

The event is held as a fund raiser to provide scholarships to non-traditional students. Our goal this year is to present $10,000 in scholarships.
