Compliance Manager Tamara Clardy led the green effort for Rainbow Kids Clinic and provided a tour of the facility with Administrator, Steven Thomas. Clardy explained some of the initiatives they’ve taken. “We recycle paper and cardboard, we have occupancy sensors throughout the building, we use energy set points, set copiers and computers to sleep modes, use central printing, and have been nationally recognized for our reduction in paper use because of our online records and processing. We also donate the coolers our medications come in to hunger relief organizations for reuse. Employees are encouraged to share ideas for improvement at our staff meetings.”

Thomas told the group that many of the windows have also been tinted to keep areas cooler during the summer months. “We are looking at tinting more areas with windows as well as replacing all of our outdoor metal halide lighting with LEDs.”

Dr. Satish Prabhu, owner of Rainbow Kids Clinic added, “As a doctor I understand that a healthy environment contributes to the health of our children. I reached out to Michelle to participate in this program. I think it is good that the community has something so unique to offer.”

Gentry, Black, and Shepherd thanked Dr. Sabish Prabhu and his staff for taking the initiative to participate in the CMC Green Certification process.

Rainbow Kids Clinic’s board certified pediatricians and pediatric nurses work as a team with the support of the staff to provide comprehensive and compassionate pediatric care to children and adolescents and provide a medical home for children.
