Originally scheduled to be a Saturday-Sunday event, but rescheduled for a Sunday-Monday series because of inclement weather in the Edwardsville, IL, area Friday night-Saturday morning, the series will now begin 1:00pm Sunday, with a doubleheader and conclude with a 2:00pm, Monday single game.

The Governors (4-13) enter the series having won two of three home games this past week, while the Cougars (6-11) won their home opener this past Wednesday versus Drake.

Through the first 17 games of the season, offensively, the Govs have five players hitting .300-or-better, led by a trio of freshmen. Outfielder Kacy Acree leads the group with a .364 average, including a team-best 15 runs scored and six doubles. She also has a triple, two home runs and nine RBI.

She is followed by third baseman Danielle Liermann (.345/2 HR/15 RBI) and shortstop Kendall Vedder (.333/0 HR/8 RBI). Liermann’s 15 RBIs leads the team.

Junior outfielder Chandler Groves (.316/1 HR/6 RBI) and senior catcher Mel Pavel (.300/0 HR/3 RBI) round out the quintet above the .300 batting mark.

In the pitchers’ circle, juniors Autumn Hanners and Allie Blackwood lead the team with a pair of wins each. Hanners is 2-6 this season, with a team best 3.27 ERA, to go with 25 strikeouts in 40.2 innings of work; while Blackwood is 2-0, with a 5.12 ERA and 11 strikeouts.
