APSU Dual Enrollment can allow High school students earn College Credit

APSU - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – High school juniors and seniors looking to jumpstart their college careers now have financial incentives to take dual enrollment courses at Austin Peay State University (APSU).

Tuition for dual enrollment classes, for up to 12 credit hours per semester, is now $166.00 per hour, which is significantly lower than regular tuition.

In addition, the dual enrollment lottery grant provides up to $2,400 for two years for students to pay for these classes.

“If a student takes full advantage of the lottery grant and dual enrollment tuition rate, he or she can save over $5,000 on 24 credit hours (eight, three-credit hour courses),” Julia McGee, director of Extended Education at APSU, said.

Students who have completed their sophomore year of high school and who meet the dual admission requirements can begin taking dual enrollment classes at APSU the summer before their junior year. Last fall, 225 local high school students enrolled in dual enrollment classes at APSU, and the program continues to grow. The classes are offered on the APSU campus, online or in the high schools.

The University will host a dual enrollment information session at 6:00pm on Tuesday, March 22nd, in the APSU Morgan University Center, Room 312. Anyone interested in finding out more is welcome to attend.
