UT Lady Vols Basketball punches ticket to Elite Eight with 78-62 win against Ohio State

UT Lady VolsSioux Falls, SD – Behind a career night from Mercedes Russell, Tennessee will play for a spot in the Final Four after defeating Ohio State, 78-62, in the Sweet 16 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Friday night.

In the midst of their best stretch of the season, the No. 7 seed Lady Vols (22-13) have won six of their last seven games to advance to the 28th Elite Eight in program history. Despite reaching the Sweet 16, Ohio State (26-8) finished the season losing four of its last seven.

Russell’s dominance throughout the game led to her best performance donning the orange, scoring a career-high 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting. She also collected 15 rebounds, matching a career-best.

APSU adds NFL wide receiver Todd Pinkston to Football coaching staff

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Veteran NFL standout Todd Pinkston has joined Austin Peay State University’s football staff as an assistant coach and will work with the Governors wide receivers.

A second-round draft pick out of Southern Miss, Pinkston became a principle target during the Donovan McNabb era in Philadelphia, catching 184 passes for 2,816 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2000-04.

Clarksville Police requests help Identifying Vehicle Burglary Suspect

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Detective Joshua Jobe is trying to identify the vehicle burglary suspect included in the three videos attached and is requesting public assistance.

This incident occurred at Clarksville Gutter located at 1491 Crossland Avenue between March 22nd, 2016 at 2:36am and March 23rd, 2016 at 9:19am. An employee at Clarksville Gutter stated that he observed several work trucks with open back doors when he arrived at work.

APSU’s Chris Horton named All-District by National Association of Basketball Coaches

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUKansas City, MOChris Horton, who propelled Austin Peay State University to a miracle run in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament and its first NCAA tourney appearance since 2008, has been named first-team All-District 19 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as selected by member coaches.

That was announced Friday by the NABC.

Clarksville author Michael Shoulders debuted his new novel “Crossing the Dead Line” at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center

He was there from 1:00pm until 3:00pm reading from his book, signing copies and answering questions from those in attendance. One couple came all the way from Knoxville Tennessee to attend the event.
