UT Lady Vols’ Bashaara Graves of Clarksville earns AP Honors

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – University of Tennessee women’s basketball forward Bashaara Graves has been named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American, the media organization announced on Monday afternoon.

Graves, a 6-foot-2 senior from Clarksville, Tennessee, averaged 10.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 33 contests this season. She connected on 54 percent of her attempts from the field and hit 74 percent at the free throw line. She registered eight double-doubles in her final season, finishing her career with 29 to wind up ninth on UT’s all-time list.

Clarksville Street Department reports Old Farmers Road closed Tuesday, March 29th

Heavy Rainfall and Strong Storms possible for Clarksville-Montgomery County, Wednesday

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service (NWS) reports scattered showers and thunderstorms will spread across Clarksville-Montgomery County and Middle Tennessee during the day on Wednesday, March 30th, becoming more widespread and heavy Wednesday night.

Some storms will likely produce heavy rainfall with rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches currently expected. This rainfall may lead to flash flooding in some areas.

APSU Governors Baseball starts five game road trip at Southern Illinois, Tuesday

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUCarbondale, IL – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team begins a five-game road trip with a 5:00pm, Tuesday contest against Southern Illinois at Richard “Itchy” Jones Stadium.

The Govs hit the road after sweeping a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series from Murray State. The sweep also extended APSU’s current win streak to a season best-tying four games.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office requests help identifying Burglary Suspect

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Investigators are asking for the community’s help in identifying a suspect in a burglary that occurred at a storage facility.

The theft occurred at St. B Mini Storage located at 2525 Highway 48/13, sometime between Wednesday, March 23rd and Friday, March 25th.

Numerous units were burglarized and vandalized during the incident. Stolen items include power tools, electronics, and video games.

14th Annual Downtown Artists Co-op Art Auction and Fundraiser to be held this Saturday, April 2nd

 

Clarksville Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC)Clarksville, TN – The Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) 14th Annual Auction will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 6:00pm-8:00pm. The venue will be F&M Bank’s beautiful Franklin Room, just up the street from DAC at 50 Franklin Street. The event will include both a live auction for large original works and a silent auction for small-medium pieces.

The Annual Auction is DAC’s only fundraising event each year. The auction raises funds to support the DAC mission of promoting the Visual Arts in Clarksville and it gives DAC Members a chance to provide a delightful evening for our patrons, sponsors and friends.

APSU’s 22nd Annual Governors Bass Tournament to be held May 14th

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – The 22nd annual  APSU Governors Bass Tournament is less than two months away.

This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 14th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing State Park. Last season’s tourney drew more than 200 boats.

The tournament will benefit Austin Peay State University athletics. More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded.

Harper Greene Benefit Supper and Singing to be held Saturday, April 2nd

 

BenefitCunningham, TN – On Saturday, April 2nd, 2016, a Benefit Supper and Singing will be held for Harper Greene at Montgomery Central Elementary School from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.

Harper Greene was diagnosed in December, 2015 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 2. He is the son of Nick and Chasidy Greene.
