The Governors (4-8, 3-2 OVC) enter the weekend ranked fifth in the conference standings, with the top six schools at the conclusion of the season filling the OVC Championship bracket.

Both opponents – the Tigers and Bruins – sit below APSU at ninth and seventh, respectively.

Over Austin Peay’s three-match winning streak versus OVC competition, the team has received quality play from both veterans and newcomers. In singles, junior Manuel Montenegro has posted four individual wins, while freshman Almantas Ozelis has racked up four victories. In doubles, Ozelis and sophomore Aleh Drobysh have been unstoppable, winning six consecutive matches, five coming in the OVC.

Tennessee State (8-11, 1-5 OVC) dropped four-straight matches on its OVC schedule, but are coming off a 4-3 victory over Eastern Illinois to keep its postseason chances within reach. TSU’s No. 1 player, Daniel Bernal, leads the squad in OVC singles wins with three, including 12 overall. Grant Maddox paces all Tigers with 13 victories, playing primarily as the No. 5.

Belmont (7-8, 3-3 OVC) lost three of its four contests to open league action, but have since won two-straight against Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville to begin a six-match road trip. The Bruins, coached by former tennis standout Mauricio Antun, are led by Cedric Dujacquier, who is 10-4 and 5-1 in OVC play. In addition, No. 2 player Robin Demasse owns 12 wins.

Prior to Saturday’s contest, Austin Peay’s coaching staff will recognize its lone senior, Evan Borowski. Both matches are scheduled to take place at the Foy Fitness Center Outdoor Courts, but if weather conditions fall below the conference standards, play will take place in the Governors Tennis Center.
